ok its four pm now and i'm going to church soon. i should be studying for math and econs tests next wk but i'm feeling restless now. wanna read a magazine but lazy to go out and buy :/ i just ate a slice of chocolate cake and i'm craving for more. speaking of cravings, a friend once asked me what i would eat if i was not allergic to dairy products. haha. it'll probably be: 1) an entire pizza! 2) egg omelette (ok lah, i still eat it, but at least i'll be able to eat it w/o feeling guilty and worried about having rashes) 3) pancakes. i love pancakes!

Singapore's such a small place! When shopping this week, I've been bumping into my friends and relatives. Haha. I bet this never happens in other larger cities. Well, Christmas is over. I will certainly miss the food.. ahh, I looooove Christmas lunches. Delicious, absolutely lip-smacking! I went with my family for sushi set lunches on Christmas day. Wanted to eat Western food but we had to get a queue number at most of the eateries (it was that packed) so we headed for sushi. Gosh, I ate so much sushi and washabi. I just hope I didn't put on any weight! I've been swimming but eating>exercising, definitely :(

I got a copy of The Sims Pet Stories since those who have it say its pretty fun. Plus, I love kittens and cats but can't get one cos of my asthma *whines* Haha, my friends all think I'm cat-crazy already. Well, the cats on the screen are cute, but quite annoying too-- scratching furniture, fighting with each other when I try to make them have kittens, etc. HAHA. Real cats are so much more fun than virtual ones, I'll say.

By the way, my neighbour has been playing Frosty the Snowman on his violin since last week, now the tune's stuck in my head.

its one of those days when i find myself not thinking of you anymore. its a sweet respite from the times where i find myself remembering the awkward moments; its a kind of nostalgic pull at my heart, so distant yet an achingly present memory. so much has changed, yet so little if you look closely. sometimes its almost as if time stood still ever since then.

on a lighter note, i bought the SPONGEBOB POPCORN TIN today!! its my irresistably cute, bright yellow, square friend now. spongebob is cute to the maximum! he's fun, happy, and doesn't let anything dampen his mood. when you're angry, think of this yellow.. er, sponge.

Yesterday I discovered something new about my mom. She's actually a lot like me and vice versa! You see, I've been keeping this (supposedly) secret stash of my drawings in a drawer in my room. I've been sketching designs for a clothing line that I occasionally dream of creating. I think I started the sketches quite a while ago. I've never really thought of actually creating my own clothing line, its just when the idea of a new clothing design strikes me, I pick up my pencil and start drawing. And sometimes, when I glance up just for a nanosecond, about 15 minutes or so would've passed, and I realise that I've just thoroughly enjoyed myself. Its funny how I can stop in the middle of whatever I'm doing---sometimes halfway through studying for exams, or when reading a magazine---and just spill it all out on the pleasing blank canvas in front of me.

Well, back to my surprise discovery about my mom. Yesterday she revealed that when she was young, she actually sketched designs for clothes and what's more, created some of those clothes herself with the help of a tailor. I would love to see them! Omg this is so exciting! Too bad she doesn't still keep those loose pieces of paper where she came out with all those designs.

Okay, gotta read my magazines now. I shall sleep earlier tonight! Haha i've been sleeping really late every night.

What's wrong? Just something like that can drag me down from a ecstatic light-headed chinese-and-op-'a'lvls are over mood to this gloomy, frustrated state. GRRRR. I need to rant. Everything would be so much easier, enjoyable and whatnot if not for that. WHY? ARRRGHH.. I'll not say the details for obvious reasons but it has caused me countless sleepless nights and driven me to the point where i can almost tear out my hair in rage. (not that i EVER will. HA, its definitely not worth it. not worth destroying anything on the planet for that) If i were someone else i would have reacted differently, maybe just outright rude in return. then perhaps, just perhaps, the situation would be different. But i do not have any qualms being me. GRRRRRRRRRR. whywhywhywhywhy.

ok, i feel a lil better after ranting. oh yeah, almost forgot to mention, OP was so-so, but the examiner was friendly! so at least it helped calm nerves and i wasn't that nervous.

For the first time in my life, I've moved house! The past few weeks have gone by in a frenzy, and with my head all clogged up with promos, it only struck me yesterday that I was going to move. As i stood outside my house clutching several bags, nostalgia flooded me and I felt a sudden rush of memories. The times I spent during my childhood running around wildly with my playmates, playing hide-and-seek, screeching at the top of our lungs, assembling Garfield puzzles in the lazy sunny afternoons, splashing each other with cold water from the garden hose which provided much-needed respite from the scorching heat of the sun. Then there were the times I simply lounged around the house, doing what I liked the most--sketching portraits, getting terribly engrossed in novels, playing with my beloved pets, hogging the phone.. And not to forget the unpleasant; hurried last-minute studying in my now-empty room just before the promos (which were over yesterday, phew!)I REALLY MISS MY OLD HOUSE.

Oh, and my favouritest pet turtle, Pepper, is still at my old house. OMG. That turtle is really one of a kind. Wait till you hear what he did today.. its hilarious!! In the morning my dad (who went to the old house to bring stuff over) phoned us frantically, saying that he left Pepper on the floor for a while and he was nowhere to be found. We freaked out and I was ready to go there to help search for him, when my dad phoned again. Guess what???!!

Dad: Do you happen to see our turtle? He's lost--
Repairman: Oh, I just saw a turtle cross the road! Must be yours!

ZOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PROBABLY THE FUNNIEST THING I HEARD ALL DAY. In the end pepper was found all the way down the road, UNDER A CAR. Lol! He really scared us!

Oh well, as i'm typing this the neighbours are dancing and giggling to the beat of... Rihanna's Umbrella! (groan, not again) haha! Till then!

ran away for the THIRD time. naughty naughty!!
he's so big now that he can stand on his two back legs and reach the top of the tank. this time it was my mom who caught him at 8 in the morning. i was sleeping when i heard screaming coming from the backyard. apparently pepper was strolling back and forth around the clothes rack and my mom tried to catch hold of him but he ran away, dodging laundry baskets and the washing machine. She had to chase after him! Omg. What a naughty turtle.

I had a really dramatic dream last night, btw. I dreamt that some country was attacking s'pore and i had to walk across the sea on two thin ropes. i braced myself for the challenge, then started the long walk across when............ nope, i didn't wake up, but the army general called me back and said i didn't have to cross! wth.. hilarious! then it got scary when everyone was under a curfew till the war ended. plus, rather randomly, the dream also included me being neighbours with zac efron. haha. oh yeah, HSM tmr night, i'm looking forward to it

Came back at 10+ last night, exhausted and stinking, and completely randomly ate a durian. Mmmm, cos my mom bought one and I couldn't resist!

Anyway, I've been musing about stuff recently. I know some people (lit people especially, haha) ruminate a whole lot but it's not something I usually do. And you know what? I'm not going to spend much of my time thinking about *, and the weird things that happened. And the memories make me sentimental, but I've decided to let things go their way. ok, i shall try this.

What to do if you wake up in the morning craving garlic bread but don't feel like going out to eat:
lightly toast bread for a while, then take it out and spread magarine or butter! sprinkle some really chopped up small pieces of garlic then put in microwave/grill it! then remove the garlic (sounds stupid but hey, the scent is there already. eating garlic is weird unless u want bad breath. lol.)

discovered this by accident, when i was experimenting with the griller. okay, powdered garlic is faster but it tastes funny. wonder how pizza hut does it so nice?
superduper nice =) at least, according to me.
been eating grilled sandwiches almost every morning! nice but i'm kinda bored of it.

by the way, i'll blog a bit about ytd. went shopping, then came home. WAS UTTERLY TRAUMATISED.

Hi! :)

The June break has finally kicked in, and the GSS is a great respite from boredom. Sales on almost everything!! Well, haven't bought much yet, despite shopping a lot! I'm glad that my fave bookstore, Kinokuniya has discounts for books too. I bought 3 books yesterday-- my usual guilty pleasure, Gossip Girl: Don't You Forget About Me (ok, they say it is the ultimate chick-lit, but who cares? Juicy gossip at its best!), The Girls by Lori Lansen(its really touching) and a lit book. Now my eyes are hurting from reading so much. Blame the stupid small print of the books.

The mid-years are coming, hope I have time to finish studying!

I started off today waking up at 3am and snacking till 6, then dozed off for 1h before being jerked out of my much-needed slumber by freakin' noisy construction work. My day thus far involved wearing a kimono(long story--hahaha) and trying to remember boring history facts for the dreaded mid-years (next thurs-GP. fri-Hist) EEEEK. I have to stop mugging last-minute, cos I suck at it.

OMG I love cats SO much. A stray cat just meowed at me. SO cute <3 The one with the ginger coloured fur and huge soulful eyes. :) And I can connect with cats! They meow at me and I meow back. This goes on and we've a meowing conversation.

Okay so my flu is getting better (I hope! *Keeps my fingers crossed*) Yesterday I got a shock when my thermometer read 40+ degrees. Maybe it was because I drank hot water, so i took my temperature again. Luckily it was 39 (which isn't good also. sigh) man, i hate flu, esp serious ones! Yesterday Hannah and TingTing said they wanted flus so they could rest at home. So I went, "OK, I'll try to sneeze in your faces later." LOL. Which I didn't, obviously. GROSS.

Oh no, I've got a flu, which worsened after I came home yesterday! It was pouring when I was walking home after shopping for a while with my cousins. It's quite crazy to go shopping on Saturday actually. So damn crowded everywhere! Plus, it rained heavily.. So I have a rather bad flu now :(

I had a nice long chat with Bel over the phone. I miss her!! I wish we could both be in the same school again.. It'll be so fun. Our primary school days were so memorable.. going swimming in the evenings and spending hours doing so many laps of the pool till we were exhausted, and also lazing by the poolside chatting about anything and everything. It's always more fun swimming with Bel! Well I hope we can meet up again soon..

I'm doing homework now but it has gotten boring so here I am! Haha.
Well, yesterday was pretty good, no school cos of Good Friday. But my day was almost ruined by this stupid man!!
I went for mass in the morning then went to Taka for lunch with my family. Halfway thru eating I had to use the toilet, and as I was walking out of the restaurant, this rude guy heard his name being called and BARGED in with a baby stroller so fast that the freaking wheels of the stroller not only ran over my feet but collided harshly with my legs. Really, I've never came across such unruly behaviour!! The thing that irks me the most is that I didn't chatise him or anything--it was unexpected and I was kinda rooted to the spot, stunned. Honestly, I am so dumb sometimes. I wanna give him a piece of my mind!!! GRRRRR..

I really felt like swimming yesterday so I ignored my aching joints and tried a few laps. Boy, did my arms hurt! So I stayed underwater for a while then emerged without swimming much. Sigh.

Darn it, I haven't been doing much homework and studying. I need to finish Lit, Maths and History cos tomorrow is my movie marathon day! ;)

Gosh, I SURVIVED mass PE today!! It was torturous, and now my arms are aching.
The running was alright--we ran 8 rounds, but the other stuff like the 40 push-ups made everyone really exhausted. Sadistic teachers.. :

I haven't eaten dinner yet, but my stomach's full... with deeeelicious Island Creamery ice-cream cake! (leftover from my bro's birthday) Haha. I <3 ice-cream.

I just came back from a haircut. Guess what, my hairstylist said he won first prize in the whole of S'pore in a hairstyling competition so he'll start charging as much as celeb hairstylists! Eek!!

Today's just one of those lazy, sunny days. I think I'll go do the Rockafella article now. Must not procrastinate! Haha. In the mood for a nap though. ;)

Went out with the girls to celebrate Diane's birthday today! We met for lunch at NYNY. The servings were generous and the food was great. Thanks Diane for treating us! We shopped around and went for bowling afterwards. Bowling was hilarious; during the second round we changed our names to our eye candies' names. Everyone bowled much better than in the first round! Haha-- that motivated us in some way.

I made $400 today from selling my HUGE collection of books and comics!! But actually $400 isn't a lot considering the amount of books I sold. Haha. I've been selling my stuff thru the classified ads since last year, and the Archie comics are particularly popular. My beloved Archie collection has shrunk by less than one quarter! *sob* I sure miss my comics!

Watched The Pursuit of Happyness yesterday with Bev and Diane. (It was Bev's b'day!) Its a simple and heartwarming movie, not very exciting but nice to watch.

Tues will be the last day with my class, wacky 1T11. I will miss them when we part!! :( These 3 mths have been really fun with them.. Going to Vivocity later on for a class outing.

I got my results yesterday-- 13 pts.. I'm happy with it, guess I'll be staying in CJC then though I was thinking of choosing Anderson. But AJC's very far from my house. And CJ is fun! Haha..

Some stuff happened this wk.

-I realised my turtle is smart.
I'm serious. :) He escaped from his tank for the second time. This time he climbed over the netting (*gasp*), landed on the shelther of his tank, and crawled his way out. Haha! Naughty turtle. At least that's what I think he did, cos of the collapsed netting and loud 'plonk' I heard. I wonder if other people's pet turtles escape too? I doubt so.. mine is fiesty and craving freedom perhaps!

-Two people (a woman in 7-Eleven & a teacher) were stunned when I spoke Chinese. They said they thought I wasn't Singaporean.

-During x-country, J MASS DANCED. Hilarious I tell you. Bernice and I laughed till our sides hurt.

OK, I'm hungry now. Gonna make a sausage and lettuce sandwich. Yum!

I'm finally back in sunny S'pore after 10 days of chilly China weather. I went to Shanghai and some other cities. The temperature dropped to 0 degrees c on one day. Brrr!!! Luckily most of the time the temp was 10++ degrees c.

Well, the trip was quite fun--- we ate Shanghai's famous hairy crabs (really hairy, when plucking it open you can feel its furry body. felt guilty when eating it! poor cute crab..), went on lots of boat rides, bought quirky souvenirs, and shopped for the whole of the last 2 days! The most exciting place was the Oriental Pearl Tower. We went there at night and I sat on th 300th floor looking at the stars through a telescope. Felt dizzy but the night scene was gorgeous!

Some places were fun but the journey from one city to another was definitely not. The journey to Nanjing especially.. it was totally unbearable! I must have dozed off when the tour guide told us the journey was going to be 5h long. It didn't help that I drank two bottles of water cos I had a sore throat. 5 hours on the highway without any toilets!! The rest of the journeys were quite long too.. 4h, sometimes 2h. We kept ourselves occupied by watching Mr Bean on the tourbus TV. Haha Mr Bean is so funny..

I took tons of pics. My mem card is with kodak, will post some pics when i get it back. bye!

The culprit!

The silly stray cat who sneaked into my house one sunny afternoon and was found by the Detective (me!) when she was standing on her hind legs, playfully swiping at my innocent, frightened turtle. Poor Pepper! When the cat saw me, she jumped down, landed on the shoe rack and sent shoes flying. She stepped on them as she wandered away to a shady corner under some chairs. (see pic above) That silly cat!!

The school holidays have begun, but I've been going to school practically everyday. There's a lot to be done at the school library, now that we've revamped it. And there're also loads of old books to condemn. I had to go back to school for lessons too.

But despite having so many things to do, now that the Great Singapore Sale is on, how can I resist not hitting the malls? Haha.. I have been visiting my favourite haunts recently and snapped up a few good buys-- a wallet in my favourite shade of purple and some clothes.

I've been looking for a pair of shades so I headed to the sunglasses section of Taka. After trying on about a dozen pair of sunglasses, I was approached by a friendly salesperson who advised me on which shades I should choose. I like aviator shades but she said that I have high cheekbones and shouldn't cover them with large aviator shades. She recommended a few squarish sunglasses but I didn't really fancy them. I ended up not buying any.. On second thought, I wouldn't be wearing sunglasses frequently, so maybe I don't need one.

Today I finished reading a book I just bought, The Tenth Circle. After reading the first few chapters of the book I felt that it was not that nice so I put it away in a corner. Then today I took it out and continued on, and found out that its actually quite a good book. Although it isn't very interesting, the way the author, Jodi Picoult, writes about fatherly love is extremely heartwrenching. Also, this book is rather cool-- there's a hidden message in the book for readers to uncover. I'm working on it!

Exams are finally over!! Today I took my last paper, A maths 2. It was pretty ok. I sat down there cracking my brain, trying to figure out how to solve a difficult surds problem. Triumphantly, I realised that I could solve it! But just as I started writing, the invigilator said that the time was up. Grrr!!

I'm probably going to catch a movie now. Thought of blogging more though.. More updates tomorrow!

Sawadee ka!

Guess what? I was one of the hosts to students from a Thailand school visiting my school this week. This is the second time I've hosted Thai students--- last year I was buddy to students from the Satree Phuket School.

Anyway, the students visited our school for three days, and they left for Thailand today morning. I made lots of new friends! Hatainut, also called Teaw, and I were buddies during their stay at my school. It turned out that coincidentally, we have a lot in common-- the same hobbies and taste in music. We also had fun snapping photos whenever we had the chance to!

The second one is really close-up cos we were sitting next to each other in the library. I was showing her some of my favourite books and she was browsing though them when suddenly she looked up and asked, "Wanna take photos?" Then we started snapping away! Haha.. She's so cute..

In class, Teaw attended lessons with me. She was also very interested in learning Chinese so I taught her some basic words. She took out her notebook and I wrote the Chinese characters of some words and their hanyu pinyin, as well as their meaning in English. I felt like a Chinese teacher (haha). Teaw picks up things very fast, and she was able to pronounce them fluently after I taught her.

I'll post more photos soon, when Teaw sends me those she took with her camera. I only took several photos with my mobile phones camera as i didn't bring my digital cam to school that day.

Well, I'm really missing my Thai friends now! I hope to visit them the next time I go to Thailand..

Hi! I'm back from yet another week of frenzied activity.

Actually, I wanted to blog last night, but I was pretty exhausted after swimming vigorously for about 20 laps. :) I usually swim 15-20 laps of the pool, but yesterday it was particularly tiring; I headed to the pool almost as soon as lessons ended. We also had a mass dance event at school yesterday, and Year 4s and 5s had to dance in the school hall. It was quite fun and relaxed..although it was rather hilarious when we first entered the hall and saw former students of the school's ELDDS strutting their dance moves on stage---we just stood there and gawked for a while before joining in! Haha..

Anyway I had a long day and when I splashed into the pool it was already in the evening. The light breeze sent ripples over the pool and it was so cooling that I couldn't resist swimming for a while longer. I had a competition with my dad who swam with me--he won on the first round but I emerged victorious on the second and third rounds! :P

He was a very nice and kind person; even at an old age he managed to be chirpy. I miss him terribly.. Every time I think about him its as though I'm whizzing down a long corridor of memories...

Hi everyone! Happy Lunar New Year!!

It feels so great to be blogging here again. In case you're wondering, I haven't been on a sudden hiatus without informing my dear readers! The reason for my week long absense from the blogosphere is because of my computer's breakdown. It happened on a stormy day when there were ear shattering thunderstorms. Later that day, when I tried to turn on the computer, the screen remained blank. It didn't seem to be responding a few days later so we sent it for repair. I'm really glad that I have it back now-- I missed it terribly! But the thing that annoys me is having to install all the software into the computer again. Arghh!! And the personalised wallpaper I painstakingly spent a relatively long time using Photoshop to create is gone. Double arghh! I must've saved it somewhere, but 'organised' isn't what you would use to describe me. Haha.

Well, to make up for the days I have been dying to update my blog but couldn't, here are some quick updates:
*Flag Day-- I went for my school's Flag Day last Saturday. We were supposed to get donations and the funds raised would benefit disadvantaged families in the MacPherson and Serangoon areas. I was partners with Cindy and we embarked on our journey in the morning, after assembling and taking roll call. Our first stop was Bugis Junction, her choice as she didn't want to go to Orchard. We got few donations there; only young couples with cute, cherubic kids stopped when the little tykes begged for coins to drop into our tin cans and "hear the cling-klang sound". Lol. So, feeling a little disheartened, we made our way to Raffles Place, where we had a hoot entertaining each other as we strolled down the empty streets till we got to the places with more people (at some parts of that place there weren't much people around as it was early in the morning). Then, when we reached the desired location Cindy challenged me to a mini competition where the person to get the most donations within the first five minutes would get a treat from the other. This was excitedly agreed upon by me, and we started immediately. It was pretty comical, the way Cindy mocked-glared at me when I 'snatched' donaters from her or when she shot me a Draco Malfoy smirk when I managed to get only a couple of mere coins after blabbering on and on about the money going to a good cause to curious passers-by. With all the frenzied activity, time went past very fast, and not only did we forget that the five minutes were over already, we were also more concerned with getting a lot of donations than actually counting the amount of money people slotted into our heavier-by-the-minute tin cans. So much for the competition! Haha..

There were, of course, rather disappointing moments when we wandered miserably on the sidewalks for what seemed like ages, and only managed to get a few coins. Those were the moments when Cindy and I had to boost each other's spirits before choosing another location to get donations.

I also remember there was this Korean guy, who looked a little older than us. He was peering at a signboard with directions when I approached for donations. He dropped some money into my can and when I thanked him and turned to leave, he cleared his throat and said "Excuse me". I turned around and he said that he was Korean. He then asked me whether I was a Singaporean, and looked rather surprised when I replied yes. He took out a camera from his bag and asked whether he could snap photos of Cindy and me. We posed with our tin cans and after that, he got Cindy to snap a photo of me and him. Haha..

New School Term

It has been a really long day for me.. I'm so exhausted that I am on the verge of falling into a deep slumber now, right in front of the computer. :S So many things happened this week that i hardly had time to keep track!

Even today morning wasn't an ordinary one. Of course, as usual, I woke up early, and dragged my reluctant, bleary eyed self to the dining table for a quick breakfast. As I was halfway through my macaroni, I felt a little uneasy, the kind of feeling you get when someone is staring hard at you. I turned my head hastily and nearly dropped my spoon. A brown, furry cat's head was peering from the one of the partitions of the windowstill. Its eyes were glowing eerily in a bright shade of red. If I had saw an entire cat, i wouldn't have got such a fright. But it was only the cat's head! So I screamed and there was hurried movement, and the cat's head was out of the grill. I then realised that it was a brown tabby stray cat that always wandered around my neighbourhood and even attempted to eat my turtle once. How on earth do cats manage to squeze their bodies (or in this case, head) into such small places? Beats me.. :S

There are a couple of new changes in school. For instance, teachers are called 'coaches', and Sec One is to be named 'Year One', and so on, that means I'm a Year Four. Recess is, unfortunately, at 11am instead of 10.30, and often results in my stomach grumbling in class. Year Fours are dismissed later, at 2pm on Tuesdays and 2.30pm on Fridays. *moan*

I've got loads of weekend homework to do! ...Help...

Hi~

Had fun guessing which photo I picked? (see previous post below) Haha.. Over the past few days, my friends have been posting comments on their guess. Some preferred to tell me in person.

Well, I'm going to reveal it--- It's Photo #1 ! Surprised? Many people said that I should've picked photo no. 2 'cos the book in the first photo had light reflected off it, causing its cover to be unclear. Fret not; Photoshop to the rescue again! I edited the book in Photo #1 to look just like that in Photo #2. Ah, the wonders of technology ;)

I'll be updating soon with lots of photos. I can't display them here now as my memory cards are with Kodak-- I'm developing them for scrapbooking. I'm really into scrapbooking now.. its my favourite craft.

I just came back from a jog at Botanic Garden and I'm really pooped out! I think I'll fall into a deep slumber once my head hits the pillow.

A few days ago, I was elated to receive in the mail a $30 cheque from SPH. It was my prize money for the book review i wrote for the Straits Times. Cool! I love writing reviews and stories. Around noon time I headed to Kinokuniya to get some So Girly! Scotch tape which was featured in Seventeen mag. Its so darn cute I couldn't resist! I met my aunt Ai Lin there. (She's a young aunt) I was proceeding to the counter to pay for the tapes when a girl with bright colourful hair caught my eye. She smiled at me and I took a closer look before realising it was Ai Lin! I didn't see her for a long time. Anyway, " I saw you in the Straits Times!" was the first thing she blurted out when she bumped into me. Lol.. Recently, quite a number of my friends told me they read my review in the papers. Some gave me comments too. Its a piquant experience writing to the papers. :)

I bought a copy of my favourite Archie comics yesterday and I suppose it's the most hilarious one so far. It kept me laughing till my sides hurt. Haha..

Christmas is just around the corner! I absolutely adore the Christmas decorations put up in Takashimaya! :)

I've been watching quite a bit of TV recently. There's The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, on Disney channel, Zoey 101 starring Jamie Spears and lots of cool flicks on the movie channels. Whew! I think I'm turning into a couch potato! I don't usually watch so much television.

The twins Zack and Cody are really cute, don't you think? They both have huge doe eyes and shiny blond hair.. Click here to take a look at the boys!

Fun Stuff (continued)

I'm continuing on from yesterday's entry.. Yesterday I didn't feel like blogging much as I was feeling rather irritated. There were loud noises ringing in the air-- my neighbours decided to renovate their house and especially in the morning and afternoon, there's a whole lot of drilling and knocking coming from next door. Its driving me crazy!! My dad reckons that the sound produced during the renovation must've exceeded the decibel scale. Haha..

Well, the entry I posted was more of a photo blog, don't you think? ;)

I guess I'm into scrapbooking now. Some people asked me how I made my scrapbooks. I spiced my photos up with decorative elements from various scrapbook stores. The borders around the photos were done with my spunky scrapbook calendar, which comes with a design to cut out and use each day. I think scrapbooking is much more fun than just merely slotting my photos into plain photo albums. Oh, and there's this cute little store in Plaza Singapura called Made with Love. It's handy for scrapaholics (that's what they call people who love scrapbooking) .. you can find zillions of scrapbooking essentials there; eyelets, pop-up stickers, textured papers, cute friendship tags, you name it, they've got it.

Actually I was looking forward to watching movies with my friends this holiday break. But I had to go to the school library today to help out with stocktaking. On the other days Grace and the others were busy. And Belinda was away on camp. Oh well...

My turtle Tarts is shedding his old shell for a brand new one! I shall take a photo of him and place it here in my blog when he's done. Haha..

What an exciting day I had yesterday!

Last night, I logged on to Blogger to update my blog, and at the same time, went to MSN to check my email.Just as I was about to start a fresh new entry, there was a familiar 'ping' and I glanced to the bottom right hand corner of my computer screen: I had 4 new email messages. Thinking that it would probably be the same old forwarded messages my friends frequently circulate, or some irritating advertisements, I clicked open my email inbox without much excitement. As I proceeded to open the emails, something caught my eye. One of the unopened emails dating Tuesday, 25th October (Gosh, had I been so busy I didn't check my email for practically a week?!) was from SPH (Singapore Press Holdings)!! For a nanosecond, my mind was blank. Why on earth would SPH send me an email? Then, my heart thumping with excitement, I remembered: Silly me--- I wrote a book review for the Gen Y Playbox section of the Sunday Times, hoping that it'll get published, and this must be their reply!

I clicked on that email so excitedly that I opened another one instead. I tried again and there it was-- an email from Melissa Sin, a journalist, saying that my book review had been selected. She asked for my details and requested for a photo of me with the book. My photo would be published together with my book review in the Sunday Times! Cool!I hurriedly grabbed my camera and put on one of my favourite pink blouses. My mother took a photo of me and the book. Here's the photo I took for the Sunday Times:

Anyway, I guess I'll blog more tomorrow as I'm dog tired from the day's events. I just got home from a long day of activities--- I attended an art lesson with Belinda and went shopping after that.

That's "hello" in Thai, in case you don't know. ^_^I learned a bit of Thai so I could communicate better with my Thai friends! Last week, students from Thailand's Satree Phuket school came to my school for three days and I was one of those selected to play host to the four girls assigned to my class. I found out that some of them share the same interests as me. Gift and Yok like getting engrossed in novels just like I do and they read all the books in the Harry Potter series too. (bookworms united!) Oh, and their fave character in HP is Hermoine, which is my personal fave as well. Cool, huh? Yok also enjoys sketching during her free time. She drew cute caricatures of me and my classmates, much to our delight!During the girls' 3-day visit to our school, they attended lessons with us, taught us a Thai dance, played games and savoured Singapore food in the school canteen. I think I've caught the flu bug! Today I probably used up a gazillion pieces of tissue paper. Haha.. that is a little exaggerated. The exams are coming; I hope I'll get well soon.

Well, this is gonna be a quick blog entry as I'm not feeling well :S Last Sat, I went to St Bernadette Church's funfair and bought a beautifully hand-crafted scrapbook there. I absolutely love it!! I'm very interested in scrapbooking and it's one of my hobbies. During the Dec holidays last year, I attended a scrapbooking class at Creative Hands and enjoyed it tremendously. If I can, I will certainly indulge in this fascinating craft everyday! But schoolwork always gets in the way and I seldom get the chance to attend to scrapbooking. Sigh..

Recently, I got an analysis of my face at FaceAnalyzer.com, a website which was introduced to me by several online pals. According to the (inaccurate) analysis by the website, I look 30% Anglo-Saxon, 40% Eastern European and 30% Western European. The website also showed that I am of a moderately high intelligence, and average sociability. Haha..

Of Pleasant Surprises And Such

I celebrated my birthday this week. Photos will be uploaded soon(I am too tired to do it now; I didn't sleep well every night due to insomnia and lots of homework). Anyway, thank you everyone who gave me presents and meaningful birthday wishes! I really appreciate it. My mother and brother bought me a Little Princess tote bag that I had been eyeing for quite long. I love the deisgn on the bag---there are vibrant, colourful prints all over it. :) Grace gave me a cute, cuddly bear and Cindy had a bear in a pot for me too. Two new additions to my teddy bear collection! Yay! My best friend Belinda came to my house in the afternoon specially to deliver my present. To my delight, it was a turtle pouch! She also gave me two delicious lollies. Too bad she had to go for tuition, so she didn't stay long. Other presents which I received include a brush set (cool!), pig magnet (oink!), and some accesories. I like them all!

Today I had CCA till 5pm. I'm feeling tired now.. Oh yeah, today we got our Physics test papers back--guess what?-- I passed! My score is 28/40. I'm very relieved and glad; according to our Physics teacher, very few people passed this test. Physics is my weakest subject, so I thought I might not do well. Haha.. Later on, after recess, my classmates and I received the final year exam timetable. Which reminds me of the nearing exams. Time to hit the books..

Confirmation and Such

Hi!! I haven't blogged for ages! Now that the NIBC is finally over, I can blog here more often. Anyway, we did not win after all. Perhaps it's due to the lack of team spirit. (none of the group members blogged in the final round except me) Oh, I almost forgot--- Yiling did blog one entry. But I got an honorable special mention!! Only two people were mentioned; a VJC teacher and me. I joined in the applause when the teacher from VJC stood up and smiled at the cheering audience. As I was clapping away, the Moblog person continued his speech with something that went like this, "...and I would like to thank Bliss too..." My hands froze in mid-clap. My Moblog username was Bliss! Then he started complimenting me on my effort put into the blog and for bearing with them when I faced many technical problems. He asked me to show the audience who I was, but actually, I don't think there was a need for that, as everyone already had their heads turned my direction. They seemed to know that I am Bliss. Wow! I felt honoured as i was one of the two people mentioned specially. ^_^

Anyway, back to my confirmation... haha, sidetracked a bit huh? TOMORROW is my confirmation! How time flies. I've decided on a suitable confirmation name: Anne. I find this name sweet, short and simple. So I'm Michelle Anne Kwok Jia Yu now. Haha. Last night was the rehearsal for the real day. I only got back home exhausted at 10pm. I had a hard time forcing myself to get up today morning for the NIBC event.

Well, it's getting quite late and I'm going off to bed.

Launching of Blogging Competition

I went for the launching of the National Interschool Blogging Competition (NIBC) at Esplanade last Friday. Five students from my school, including me are involved in this contest. This contest is organised by MOE and Singtel. We'll blog through the school blog site, which we will set up at campusmoblog.com.sg.

It was a very grand launching. We left the school at 1.15pm. When we arrived at the spacious theatre, there were already many students from various schools inside there. At the entrance of the threatre was Aaron, from the TV show An Eye for A Guy. He is very handsome and hunky. While waiting for the hosts to start the event, we watched shows on the flat plasma TV screen in the theatre. Then, we were given red Singtel bags filled a folder containing lots of information on the contest. I was delighted to see a notebook, pen and bag of tattoos in the bag as well. I was quite engrossed in browsing through the bag when I heard people around me gasping. I looked up and to my surprise, saw Jamie Yeo standing on the stage, all poised and holding a microphone. The event started with SMS contests. Next, there were speeches from representatives from MOE. Then, there was a Q&A session, where most of our queries on the contest were answered. After that, Jamie Yeo announced that there would be refreshments served. We proceeded to the place. I mingled around, chatting with my friends. I went to the toilet and when I came out, I could not find the others. I wandered around, munching on snacks provided by the waiters and waitresses. I heard someone say, "Hi" and I looked up. It was Aaron, and he flashed me a huge grin. I was about to talk to him but he was just too popular; he was pulled away by some students around me.

I took an MRT home after that. I'm quite excited to start this school blog. I hope that my friends will support me by visiting my blog and voting for it on the CampusMoBlog website!

Exams are finally over!!

I've not blogged for quite a long time. Fortunately, I could still remember my password. (The last time I forgot my password, I had to create a new blog!)

My exams are over---finally! The toughest paper was Physics. I'm very glad that the exams are over. Today, after school, Nerrine and I went to Borders to browse through some new novel arrivals. Nerrine bought the fifth Harry Potter book, The Order of the Phoenix, at only $7.95! She pre-ordered the sixth Harry Potter book, which is coming only on July 16, at Borders. Then, we went to Takashimaya. I decided to pre-order a copy of the sixth HP book at Kinokuniya, as I have 10% discount. I can't wait for the new HP book to arrive! I hope it will be as intriguing and thrilling as the fifth book, which I enjoyed reading very much. Nerrine and I went to the Toys department after that to take a look at the Sylvanian Families miniatures. I bought a small, cute mouse to add to my collection and we proceeded to Delifrance, as both of us were getting hungry.

I got home at around 1pm. I watched The Sleepover Club at 3.30. Today's episode was quite entertaining, though I could not stand the way everything was so predictable. I could guess right from the start that Frankie's mom was pregnant! Anyway, I only realised last week that The Sleepover Club is showing on TV. I read almost all the books in The Sleepover Club series when I was in primary school. I was delighted to know that it is showing on the Disney channel! Another favourite TV show of mine is The Archies. Just like the Archie comics, it is about the life of Archie and his pals. Cool!

The school holidays are coming soon and i'm really looking forward to it. I will have more time to update my blog!

A Week Packed With Many Activities

This week has been a hectic one for me. There was ACE Day, the Battlefield trip, Sports Day, Easter Vigil and the visit to Angsana Home. On top of that, I spent the whole of Saturday morning to do the GESSpression project for my CCA. This week, I had to cancel my Physics tuition because of the many activities.

I attended the Easter Vigil at St Ignatius Chuch. It was a very grand celebration. The choir sang very well and I felt like I was at a concert. I went with my church friends to the Angsana Home this morning. We sang songs, including some Easter songs, to the people there. We also talked to them and helped to serve them food. It was a meaningful trip.

Confirmation Activities

This year is Confirmation year for my catechism class. My teacher lined up many activities for all of us. This week, there were three activities. I went to church on Monday and Tuesday. On Friday, I went for a class outing. We watched the movie 'Robots'. It was very funny. After that, Dave suggested that we play pool at Cineleisure. I have never played pool before. It was very exciting. I learned how to play pool and it turned out to be a fun game. The best part was enjoying the company of my catechism classmates.

There are many more activities coming up. These include a visit to Angsana Home, distributing food to migrant workers, being in the greeting ministry, and attending Easter Vigil. I think I will be very busy this year.

A Surprise

Last Friday, there was a Library Club meeting after school at 1pm. There was a large crowd present as it was a promotions meeting. As I stepped into the library, I saw many anxious faces. Everyone was given a copy of the 2005 organisational chart which contained all the details of comittee members, library members, and their duties. I turned to the first page and saw my name there. Next to it, in bold, was the word, 'President'. Actually, Mdm Norliza had already told me a few months back that I was to be president, but I couldn't believe it. Now that it was confirmed, I was overjoyed. People all around me started shaking my hand and congratulating me. I am very happy about the promotion. This year is going to be a very busy year. We were each given our duties and responsibilities. On top of that, we were told that there are many projects coming up. I think I will be very busy with my CCA this year. My immediate task is to complete the GESSpression project which is due soon. To me, this is a very time consuming project. I have to squeeze out many hours from this school holiday to work on it.

Cousin's Birthday Celebration

Last night, I went to my cousin, Eileen's house to celebrate her 21st birthday celebration. She invited many of her SMU and ACJC friends. There was a buffet for all of us. I brought my Chemistry homework there to do as I could not finish it. When I arrived, her friends were already there. Louis was there too. Louis is very good at computer stuff. When I have problems with my website, I would consult him. Once, he helped me with my website on MSN for a few hours. Louis was very helpful as usual. He offered to help me with my Chemistry homework when he saw me struggling with it. It is nice to know a friend who is so helpful.

Eileen brought out her cake at around 8pm. Her cake was very beautiful. It was pink in colour and in the shape of a key. It was a pity I could not stay till she cut the cake as it was not early and I had to go home.
